Help & FAQs
Quick answers about verification, donations, security, and campaigns.
What is Small Help?
Small Help is a philanthropic crowdfunding platform that mobilises a community of small givers to fund timely, life‑saving medical care for indigent patients across Africa. We prioritise transparency, verification, and direct payments to hospitals.
How are cases verified?
We confirm documents and call hospitals directly before publishing a case. Checks may include phone verification with the organiser, validation of hospital invoices, contact with hospital staff, NGO/partner endorsement, and—when critical—physical verification.
Where do donations go?
Donations are pooled to a campaign wallet and paid directly to the hospital for approved procedures—never cash to patients. Receipts and disbursement logs are added to campaign updates and the Transparency page.
Can I see proof of use of funds?
Yes. Receipts, disbursement logs, and hospital confirmations are published on the campaign and Transparency pages.
Which payment methods are supported?
Paystack (cards, bank transfer, local wallets). One‑time or monthly giving.
What currencies can I donate in?
NGN and any other currencies Paystack supports. Non‑NGN gifts may settle in NGN for reporting.
Are there fees?
Processor fees apply. A small platform fee may support verification, support, and technology. Fees are shown at checkout and reflected in transparency metrics.
Can I get a receipt?
Yes. An email receipt is sent after each successful donation. Recurring gifts receive a receipt each cycle. Summaries available on request.
How do refunds work?
Possible only before funds are paid to a hospital. After disbursement to a provider, refunds are generally not possible. Contact info@smallhelp.org.
How do I start a campaign?
Click Start a Campaign and follow the steps: organiser profile, patient details, state & LGA, hospital info, documents (invoice/medical report), and story. Submit for verification.
Can campaigns be edited after publishing?
Yes (with admin oversight). Significant edits (new invoices, diagnosis updates) appear in the case’s update history.
How does transparency work?
We show total raised, disbursed amounts, receipts, and hospital confirmations. Platform‑level stats (people helped, total raised, active cases, disbursed ratio) are on the Transparency page.
How do you prevent fraud?
Multi‑layer verification, hospital‑first payments, audit logs, anomaly detection, and NGO/partner endorsements. Suspicious cases are rejected or suspended.
Is my payment information secure?
Yes. Paystack processes payments using PCI‑DSS compliant systems. We never store full card details.
Do you accept monthly donations?
Yes. Set up on the Donate widget/page. You can pause or cancel anytime via your receipt link or by contacting support.
How are success stories handled?
After treatment, we or the organiser share updates—photos/videos, discharge summaries, and thank‑you notes—on the campaign page and Success Stories.
